Live,Love, Laugh...with family

Today was my Papa's 90th...what a day...full of love and family. I hope everyone experiences days like what we had today. Here is a link to the whole album.

It was a perfect day with people from all over the country who kept the secret for 3 months and spent the day celebrating an amazing man.

Subaru Nation....

Venturing out to Colorado, I had this image in my head of a very rugged people....people who used horses and 4 wheelers as a main source of transport. The idea of mini coopers, bmw's and hybrids just didn't gel with my perception of the terrain. You can imagine my surprise and utter dissapointment when I found out otherwise. I suppose the dissapointment was directed more at my own ignorance, but the vehicular landscape of the mile high city held within it, some interesting nuances.

owning it

This is something that is very simple. I learned long ago that only you can change your life. Everything that happens requires a response and then the result is what you own. You made it happen.
Life really gives you what it believes you can handle, regardless if it is good, bad, easy or hard. It is what you do with these challenges that determines what happens, how it effects you and truly who you are as a person..inside.
I think it is really hard for some people and some instances to see clearly the owning aspect of a situation and how it effects the people around you and most importantly yourself.
To me, I have become accepting of this idea of owning problems, situations, emotions, outbursts, consequences etc. I am by no means perfect and make mistakes and the wrong choices often, but I know that the result is definitely mine and what I deserve.
Our first reaction is blame or denial. Some people get stuck here in this spot and can't move on. They don't understand or know how to reach the real source of the issue so they are unable to own the outcome whether it be a reward or consequence.
Recently there has been quite a bit going on with people around me. The idea of stepping back and owning the problem and the outcome comes nowhere near their train of thought, only blames and excuses. Personally I believe that there is no place for this in life. Nothing will ever get solved or prevented from happening again until the root of the issue is taken to heart, owned and resolved internally so that the outcome is more of a positive then a repeating negative.
This kind of sounds like a math equation or a science lesson, but in a way...maybe it is easier to look at it that way then a personal one.

Just a Fitness FYI update

I know that my gabbing on about my fitness program isn't what most everyone wants to read...so I have a  blog of my own that I write in daily about this. If you'd like to check it out... www.thisthatandthattoo.blogspot.com

My first 30 days is done, I lost 10 lbs and 30.75 inches (I believe that was the total). I feel great and today started the Tracy Anderson Metamorphasis Omni 90 day program. I wrote all about it on the other site so you are welcome to read about it if you's like.

Happy May and I hope Spring is coming soon! Today was in the 40's!!!

Cheesecake

As many of you know, I have become a member of the Denver Cheesecake Factory team. I am hopefully soon to be a server on the floor...after I pass my 300 question test next weekend. There are more than 200 items on the menu, 36 cheesecakes, other desserts and coffee's, alcohols etc...so much to learn. We have had training all last week in the classroom and have floor training next week to become more familiar with the line and the way Cheesecake works. I am really happy to be a part of this chain. It is the largest casual dining chain in America and the most profitable. Our store does over $250,000 a week which means money in my pocket! The restaurant was started by a family in Beverly Hills, California..the Overtons. Previous to opening the first restaurant, they had a cheesecake shop in Detroit and then later in LA. They wanted to create a place where people would come for dinner, go to a movie and then come back for dessert...which is what it is today. David Overton, their son, said that he tried forever to change the name so it had a more effective presentation considering everything that they serve there, but he never found the perfect one, so it stayed The Cheesecake Factory. And so begins my adventure at The Cheesecake Factory...
